The Bhimgoda tank is located at Haridwar about one kilometer from the famous Har-ki-pauri ghat of the Ganges. The sacred tank is believed to have been excavated by Bhim while the Pandavas were going to Himalayas through Haridwar. Therefore, the tank is named after him. Ganges water flows into this tank.

Gauri Kund located at an altitude of 2000 meters serves as the base camp for the Kedarnath yatra . The place is famous for its natural thermal springs and a temple dedicated to Goddess Gauri (Parvati). It is believed that Goddess Gauri carried out ascetic and yogic practices before marrying Lord Shiva and she used to bathe in the tank during her stay at Gaurri Kund. Pilgrims take a dip in the holy waters of the spring before paying visit to the nearby temple. The thermal springs are said to have curative powers.

Tapta Kunda is located on the banks of river Alaknanda at Badrinath is considered sacred, right opposite Shri Badrinathji temple. The tank is filled by thermal springs. It is customary to take a dip in the sacred tank before entering the shrine. It is believed that a dip in the tank's holy waters ensures salvation. The sulphur water in the tanks is also considered good for health.
