Bagheswari Hill is situated about 1 K.M. away from Bongaigaon town. The hill presents a natural watch tower where from entire town and its surrounding can be viewed. The hill houses ancient Siva temple inside a stone cave flanked by two other temples namely Bagheswari and Baba Taraknath on either side.

Bagheswari Temple is one of the oldest and most visited temples of Assam. This temple is dedicated to goddess’s durga is considered one of the 51 shakti peeths. . According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where ‘Devi Durga’s’ Trishul (weapon) fell down when her body was cut into pieces by God Vishnu, just after ‘DakhshyaYagya’.

A fair is also held in the premises of this temple on the auspicious day of mahashivratri. The carvings on the wall of this temple are very inspiring and depict some shlokas of Hindu mythology. The major attraction of this temple is the Arti program which is held every day both in the morning and the evening.
