Porcupine’s quill was earlier used in many Hindu religious ceremonies like upanayanam (investiture of the sacred thread), ceremony for pregnant ladies etc.
The porcupine is the emblem of the fourteenth Tirthankara Anantanatha.

Distribution: Throughout India
