Mannargudi is a municipality in Thiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The most famous landmark in Mannargudi is the thousand year old Hindu Temple Sri Rajagopala SwamyTemple.

The temple is very huge with 24 sannadhis, vast gardens and seven prakarams (circumambulatory paths). The temple is also known as Dakshina dwarka and it is believed that staying here overnight is equivalent to donating 1000 cows.

The mast – wood tree Punnai is the sacred tree of the temple adored with special devotion as it is dedicated especially to the Lord. It is located in the Champaka Prakaram. This kshetra glorified as Champakaranayam, in yonder days, abounded in Champaka plants.

At the Southern Prakara there is the sacred flower garden. From the jackfruit procured from the garden during the month of Vaikasi and coupled with Visakam constellation, the luscious delicacy of a delightful cuisine called Sahakara is prepared for the ceremonial offerings to the Lord.
