Tadhavaj hills located near the confluence of the Shatrunai and Talaji rivers in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat state are home to a number of caves carved into the hill side. They once housed Buddhist monasteries and temples dedicated to Lord Buddha. They can be dated back to thousands of years ago and are exquisite examples of the architecture of the period. Considering the passage of time, they are remarkably well preserved and speak volumes about the architectural skill of those times.

On top of the hill is located the town of Talaja which is revered as a holy site by Hindus, Buddhist and Jains alike. The atmosphere is exceedingly spiritual. Some of the sites worth seeing are the Ebhala mandapa as well as the temple of Kodiad Matha as also a number of Jain temples dedicated to the Tirthankaras.

Once the area was noted for its abundant wildlife consisting of black buck, wolves, jackals, wild cats, wild pigs and hares. Nowadays the sights are rare. The black buck National Park has been set up in order to protect the wildlife.
